NO WAR ON IRAN COALITION: WHO ARE WE

As the world marks five years of violence and bloodshed arising from the U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq, the Bush Administration once again threatens an oil-rich Middle Eastern country. Warlike rhetoric and provocative actions mark U.S. policy toward Iran and may foreshadow a military strike on that nation. U.S. forces surround Iran, including a large fleet of American warships stationed just off the coast in the Persian Gulf.  An attack would be not only illegal and immoral, but would have devastating consequences for the people of Iran, the Middle East, and the rest of the world.  It would be a terrible setback to those struggling against Iran’s theocratic regime for a democratic future.

The No War on Iran Coalition was formed in response to this threat. Arising out of a series of open meetings held in the fall of 2007, the coalition is comprised of a broad cross section of Chicago area peace, religious, and social justice organizations and activists. The Coalition takes a multifaceted approach, sponsoring educational events, organizing demonstrations and participating in the political process. We welcome all who share our concerns and our determination to stop the U.S. from launching another avoidable preemptive war.
